Director of SEND - Extended Leadership Team role job summary
We are seeking an exceptional practitioner to join our Senior Leadership Team as Director of SEND with specific responsibility for empowering every student to achieve. This is a rare and exciting opportunity for an ambitious and visionary leader to continue shaping the excellent work which has already begun at Newlands Girls' School, at a very exciting stage of our journey.
About us
At Newlands, positive working relationships, team spirit and a collective vision underpin everything we do. As a result, our staff enjoy outstanding behaviour and incredibly motivated hard-working students. The Senior Leadership Team is visible, approachable and highly supportive. Our values, the 3Cs - Courage, Commitment and Compassion, are what drive us. Respect, collaboration and a desire for there to be no limits set on potential achievement, whatever the starting point, is at the heart of our ethos.
At Newlands, we are driven by a powerful notion that every student matters; our achievement of the SEND Leadership of Inclusion Award in February 2025 is testament to this. We are looking for a dedicated Director of SEND to become a key part of our team and cement the belief that we are a school where every student knows, understands, and believes that they belong.
This is an amazing opportunity for you to take us forward, make your mark on the development of SEND and Inclusion at Newlands and contribute to the strategic direction of the school as an important member of the SLT.
What We're Looking For The role would suit a passionate, experienced classroom practitioner or middle leader who is intuitive and focused on the needs of individual students, putting them at the very heart of all decision making. We are looking for a charismatic and person-centred individual to champion the voice of SEND students and work collaboratively with the SLT and wider staff body to secure success for those students who have barriers to leaning. Experience in this role is desirable, but training will be offered to the right candidate.
