Full time, Permanent

37 hours per week, 40 weeks per year

Salary range Grade I, Point 22 – 26 (£32,654 – £36,124)

We have an exciting opportunity to manage our newly built DSP. We require a suitably qualified and experienced individual to manage the “day to day” running of the provision and pastoral care of our students.

As a new purpose-built DSP, situated within the heart of the main school, we offer this fantastic opportunity for the right person to use their knowledge and skills to change lives, enthuse and inspire.

We are particularly keen to hear from candidates with ASC experience.

What You'll Be Doing:

The role will be based around the operational support, care and guidance systems of the school, managing a cohort of up to 30 students diagnosed ASC, or currently on an ASC pathway. Day to day, you will ensure the smooth running of the provision, high student attendance, behaviour, learning engagement and achievement.

The DSP manager and Pastoral Lead will work directly alongside the DSP lead / SENCO, the school Inclusion Leader, the Pastoral Services Manager, the Behaviour & Engagement Leader and the Deputy Safeguarding Lead within the support, care and guidance team as well as with outside agencies, other senior staff, students and their parents.

To have current DSL experience, or be willing to become a DSL

Possess the ability to promote positive behaviour in a nurturing environment

Have a sound knowledge of legislation affecting SEND, including the SEND Code of Practice

Like animals and realise the potential benefits and impact on students of working with a school dog.

Flexibility to carry out any such other duties as may be reasonably required and directed by the Head Teacher

About the role

The DSP at MSSC will be a warm and welcoming space that aims to provide a very bespoke provision for students who have an EHCP with very specific Autism related needs. Students will have bespoke and personalised timetables which enables them to access a mainstream curriculum that is supplemented with tailored lessons and planned interventions.
