What skills and experience we're looking for
The Portsmouth Academy is seeking to appoint a proactive and organised DT & Food Technician to join our team on a fixed term basis. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting teaching and learning across our Design & Technology and Food Technology departments.
The Technician will ensure workshops and food technology classrooms are safe, well-equipped and ready for learning every day. You will work closely with teaching staff to prepare practical lessons, manage resources and equipment, maintain high health and safety standards and support students to access an engaging, hands-on curriculum.
Your Role:
- Preparing materials, equipment and ingredients for practical lessons
- Managing the day-today running of the DT workshops and Food Technology classrooms
- Maintaining specialist equipment and ensuring it is safe, serviced and fit for purpose
- Supporting Teachers during practical lessons where required
- Carrying out health and safety checks, maintaining risk assessments and ensuring statutory compliance
