DT Technician job summary

A new opportunity has arisen for a flexible and resourceful DT Technician to join our team at Haughton Academy, playing a crucial role in supporting the wider Science department with preparation and assistance with materials as well as facility maintenance.

Job overview

You’ll be responsible for the preparation of a range of materials and apparatus for the curriculum within teaching rooms for academic staff and students. As well as this, you’ll take pride in ensuring facilities are maintained to a high standard, conforming to Health and Safety standards whilst also assisting in auditing the use of facilities and equipment and maintaining the equipment stores.

Job requirements


  • Minimum of NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in a relevant Design and Technology specialism
  • GCSE English and Maths at C grade or above
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to effectively monitor usage and standards of equipment and facilities
  • Knowledge of relevant school policies and codes of safe practice within the classroom
