We are looking for a proactive and customer focused Duty Officer to support the smooth and safe operation of our busy community sports facility. The sports centre serves both the academy and the wider community providing high quality sport and fitness experiences that support the health and wellbeing of it's users. We welcome people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds and we work hard to ensure our facilities are inclusive, friendly and accessible to everyone. Our team takes pride in creating a positive, people-first environment where staff and members feel valued, respected and supported.
Key responsibilities:
- Manage all community and club bookings from initial enquiry through to session completion whether in person, by phone or via email.
- Act as a main point of contact for all lettings and user groups ensuring a welcoming and professional experience.
- Sign gym members in and out of the facility ensuring accurate attendance records are maintained.
- Oversee the setup, safe use and storage of all sports equipment including badminton posts, goals, cricket nets, fitness equipment and other resources.
- Take responsibility for the security of the sports centre and immediate surrounding areas, including opening and closing procedures.
Pay range:
- NJC 5-7
- Permanent: 6 hours per week, 2pm - 8pm, Saturdays - £4,148.59 - £4,281.57 per annum (£25,583.00 - £26,403.00 FTE)
- Fixed Term (Mat Leave approx. 9 months): 7 hours per week, 4.30pm - 10.30pm, Thursdays and Fridays - £4,840.03 - £4,995.16 per annum
- There will be an opportunity to work extra hours on a casual basis during peak times - £13.26 - £13.69 per hour
- Part time, all year round
Qualifications and Skills:
- A proactive individual with a genuine interest in working within a sport, fitness and community-focused environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage confidently with members of the public, colleagues and partner organisations.
- Strong team player with the ability to provide support to colleagues during shifts.
- Able to use initiative and respond effectively to unexpected situations or operational challenges.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage workload efficiently in a busy, multi-use facility.
