Your opportunity to help shape a safe, welcoming, and active environment for our students and community.
We are looking to appoint a Casual Duty Officer to join our team at Tewkesbury Academy Sports Centre, which is based within the grounds of Tewkesbury Academy. The Sports Centre is a dual-use facility, meaning it is used by academy students during the school day and by the wider community during evenings, weekends, and school holidays.
We are seeking a committed and adaptable individual to take responsibility for managing the Sports Centre’s facilities outside of school hours. The Duty Officer will ensure all visitors receive a friendly and positive experience by delivering high standards of customer service, supervising activities, and maintaining safe, clean, and efficient facilities. As the Centre includes a swimming pool alongside other facilities, holding a National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) is desirable; however, support can be provided to work towards this qualification if not already held.
This is a casual role, working flexibly on a rota alongside other Duty Officers and the Centre Manager. Shifts are scheduled on Saturdays between 7:45am and 6:45pm, Sundays between 8:15am and 8:15pm, and Monday to Friday evenings between 3:30pm and 10:45pm, depending on centre needs. Hours are worked on a casual claim basis, which will be discussed further at interview.
About you:
As a Duty Officer, you will:
- Provide a friendly, professional, and safe experience for all users of the Sports Centre
- Supervise and support lifeguards and swimming teachers during pool sessions
- Set up and dismantle equipment for sports and events
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and site security
- Respond to emergencies and uphold health and safety procedures
- Support the management of the pool plant and booking systems
Applicants are advised to refer to the full requirements of the role in the attached job description and person specification, prior to submitting an application.
