Early Years Apprentice job summary

The Avenue Children’s Centre is looking to appoint a motivated, energetic and proactive Early Years Apprentice (Level 3) to join its friendly team and help to ensure the provision of a safe, secure and comfortable environment that nurtures the physical, emotional and intellectual development of all children within the setting.

Contract: Fixed term (until completion of apprenticeship course). Working Hours: Part-time (36 hours per week, Monday – Friday, various shifts between 7.45am and 6.00pm (52 weeks, including Teacher Training Days). Required: ASAP

The Avenue Children’s Centre is a vibrant and friendly pre-school where staff are dedicated to creating a safe and exciting place for children, aged three months to three (plus) years, to play, learn and thrive. Located in the charming garrison town of Warminster, Wiltshire, we focus on each child as a unique individual to help them achieve their goals. In January 2023, we were proud to retain our ‘Good’ Ofsted rating and were praised for helping children to flourish at our welcoming and supportive setting, which is open from 7.45am until 6.00pm, fifty weeks of the year. We also offer a Breakfast, Holiday and After School club for children aged three to eleven years. We are part of the Acorn Education Trust, which provides exciting opportunities to collaborate and improve local education.

The Early Years Apprentice will gain hands-on experience within our setting, working alongside experienced staff to supervise, care for and assist children within the setting while also undertaking regular training with a college (or other training organisation) to obtain a Level 3 qualification. Duties will include washing, changing and feeding children, observing and recording their skills and progress, updating daily logs and liaising with their families. A possible permanent position as an Early Years, Level 3 qualified member of staff may be available on successful completion of the training.

  • Has solid interpersonal and communication skills and is able to work with a variety of children, staff and parents;
  • Is self-motivated, energetic and proactive and will ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality care for all of our children;
  • Has experience of working with children / young people or in supporting their learning / planning and delivering learning activities;
  • Is a strong team player;
  • Has a positive and flexible attitude;
  • Can demonstrate a warm and caring approach with children.
