LEO Academy Trust is seeking a dedicated and inspiring Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join the supportive team at Furzefield Primary Academy. This is a fantastic chance to play a key role in the educational and personal development of our pupils within a successful Multi-Academy Trust.

This is a term time only position working 20 hours per week , Monday to Friday 08:45 - 12:45. 

For this position we are seeking someone to work in Nursery but you do not need to be qualified in Early Years. Ideally you will have some experience working with this age range. 

About the Role: Your Impact

The main purpose of this post is to assist in the delivery of the educational provision, and to provide care and supervision for pupils. Learning Support  Assistants at LEO Academy Trust are flexible and committed to meeting the needs of all children.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Pupil Support: Assisting with the care and well-being of pupils, including dressing and toileting where necessary.
  • SEN Provision: Supporting Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) needs and carrying out a child's health care plan (education, social, behaviour, and personal).
  • Learning Activities: Leading intervention groups and working with small groups of pupils to reinforce learning.
  • Classroom Assistance: Assisting the Class Teacher with the planning and supervision of activities, undertaking marking in line with school policy, and taking responsibility for display work.
  • Promoting Independence: Supporting pupils’ development and promoting self-control and independence within a safe, secure, and challenging environment.
  • Supervision: Assisting with playground games and activities at play times.

What We’re Looking For:

To effectively carry out the responsibilities of this post, you will need:

  • Training & Qualifications: A Level 3 diploma or equivalent in a relevant qualification in supporting teaching and learning in school is desirable.
  • Knowledge & Skills: Up-to-date knowledge and expertise in the Foundation Stage, Key Stage 1, or Key Stage 2 curriculum, and a working knowledge of the SEN Code of Practice.
  • Personal Qualities: Qualities of sensitivity, humour, enthusiasm, thoroughness, and a commitment to working in a team.
  • Safeguarding: An understanding of and familiarity with safeguarding policies and procedures is essential, as the Trust is committed to promoting the welfare of children.
