Early Years Practitioner job summary

This post will be at the Blandford Children's Centre Nursery, which is soon to be The Archbishop Wake CE Primary School Nursery, from September 1st, 2025. This is a very exciting opportunity to be a part of a new chapter in the life of the nursery as it grows and develops into the future.

This post is initially a fixed-term contract until December 31st, 2025 and may be made permanent depending on the needs of the nursery in 2026.

This role will provide you with many opportunities to learn new skills, solve problems and adapt to different situations. Every day is different and exciting - you can get creative, messy and encourage the children to explore the world through play.

You can make a real difference in children's lives by providing them with a safe, supportive, and fun environment where they are eager to ‘have a go’ and try new things.

About you:

We are looking to appoint someone who is passionate about working with children, fun, calm and supportive. You'll be enthusiastic, self-motivated, and able to use your initiative. We use technology to communicate with each other and our families, and you will be confident in using a computer. Support will be available for specific programmes we use.

If you have any Safeguarding, Paediatric First Aid, Childcare or Food Hygiene qualifications, that would also be an advantage. A Level 2 in Early Years and Childcare would be desirable; however, we can offer the successful candidate the opportunity to gain this qualification once appointed.

You will also be working with a team of other professionals who share your passion and vision for childcare.

As an employee of the Diocese of Salisbury Academy Trust (DSAT) and specifically, Archbishop Wake, you will have access to a range of employee benefits, including wellbeing support and a pension scheme.

Applicants should be patient, love working with children, enthusiastic, self-motivated, and able to use their initiative.

We use technology to communicate with each other and our families, and you should be confident in using a computer. Support will be available for specific programmes we use.

You will be well organised, needing to record observations, sharing information with parents and carers to support learning at home, always seeking advice and guidance from your senior and line manager when needed.

We want our staff to thrive so we offer an extensive range of wellness services and professional learning opportunities to support growth and development. Please visit our website for further details: Diocese of Salisbury Academy Trust - Wellness

We value the diversity of our workforce and welcome applications from all.
