Early Years Practitioner - Specialism in Inclusive Practice job summary

About the Role

Welcome to Ludwick Nursery School — a large maintained nursery school in Welwyn Garden City, offering high-quality early education and care for up to 200 children aged 2-5 years.

Set within extensive purpose-built facilities and beautiful grounds, Ludwick provides rich and inspiring learning experiences with plentiful opportunities for outdoor exploration and play. We are seeking an excellent Early Years Practitioner to join our dedicated and highly skilled team as we continue to bring our vision of “Nurturing the Individual; Growing the Community” to life each day.

At Ludwick, children’s learning, wellbeing and happiness sit at the heart of everything we do. We are proud of our longstanding reputation for giving children the very best start to their educational journey, with a strong emphasis on nurture, inclusion and positive relationships.

Our curriculum is rooted in the pedagogy of play, first-hand experiences and communication, and is influenced by Froebelian principles. We are passionate about providing meaningful opportunities for children to explore the world around them through Forest School, cookery, woodwork and visits within the local community.

One of the things that makes Ludwick so special is the strong sense of community that exists between staff, children, families and the wider partnerships we work alongside. Our core values of Respect, Trust, Courage and Kindness underpin everything we do and help us create a happy, safe and thriving nursery where everyone feels valued.

We welcome applications from experienced practitioners who are passionate about early years education and committed to providing exceptional learning opportunities for young children. Successful candidates will demonstrate excellent classroom practice, a commitment to inclusive provision and the ability to build warm and positive relationships with children, families and colleagues.

At Ludwick, we offer:

  • Wonderful children and supportive families
  • A highly skilled, experienced and welcoming staff team
  • Excellent CPD and professional development opportunities
  • Caring and approachable senior leaders
  • A highly supportive governing body
  • A strong commitment to staff wellbeing
  • And, of course, Winnie — our much-loved school dog!

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is an excellent Early Years Practitioner with specialism for inclusive practice to work in our adapted provision
  • Has high expectations for all children, themselves and others
  • Is a positive team player with warmth, flexibility and a sense of humour
  • Can create calm, engaging and inspiring learning environments
  • Has excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Is adaptable, proactive and willing to support others
  • Is committed to ongoing professional development
  • Values strong partnerships with children, families, governors and the wider community
  • Shares and promotes our values of Respect, Trust, Courage and Kindness

Visits to the school are warmly welcomed and strongly encouraged prior to application. We would be delighted to show you around and give you the opportunity to experience Ludwick in action.

Please note that applications will be reviewed as they are received and the advert may close early should suitable candidates be identified. We therefore encourage early applications and look forward to hearing from you.
