Early Years Practitioner job summary

Early Years Practitioner

St. Martin’s CE Primary Academy, Salisbury
30–35 hours per week | Term Time Only | Start: September 2025

Are you passionate about giving young children the very best start in life?
Are you nurturing, imaginative, and excited by the chance to help shape a brand-new setting?

St. Martin’s CE Primary Academy is proud to open its brand new nursery provision for 3- and 4-year-olds this September – and we’re looking for a warm, skilled Early Years Practitioner to help us launch this exciting new chapter.

Our school, part of the Diocese of Salisbury Academy Trust, has recently undergone rapid improvement and is thriving under a dynamic new leadership team. Under Executive Headteacher Ollie Martindale (also Head at nearby St. Peter’s CE Primary Academy), we are creating a culture of high expectations, kindness and inclusion — from our oldest pupils to our very youngest learners.

About the Role

This is a term-time role for 30–35 hours per week, supporting high-quality provision for our first nursery cohort. You'll work closely with the Early Years Lead and our Reception team to:

  • Foster curiosity, creativity and care in a safe, nurturing environment
  • Provide play-based learning tailored to the needs and interests of 3–4 year olds
  • Support speech, language and early communication through thoughtful adult interaction
  • Embed routines that support independence and confidence
  • Be a key adult for children in their crucial early years of development
We’re Looking For Someone Who:
  • Has experience working with nursery-aged children and understands the EYFS framework
  • Is passionate about early development and school readiness
  • Builds strong, trusting relationships with young children and their families
  • Brings positivity, flexibility, and initiative to a team environment
  • Values inclusion and celebrates the diversity of our community
Why Join Us?
  • Be part of building something new — shaping our nursery from the ground up
  • Work in a happy, diverse school where children are known for their kindness and curiosity
  • Access a wide range of wellbeing support and professional development
  • Be part of a Trust that champions collaboration, integrity and aspiration

We value the diversity of our workforce and welcome applications from all.
