Early Years Strategic Lead job summary

The postholder will work collaboratively with school leaders and practitioners to embed best practice, drive innovation, and support continuous improvement. The post is part-time for 0.2FTE (1 day per week). The key responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a trust-wide Early Years strategy aligned with the Trust’s vision and values.
  • Lead on the rollout of the strategy across all schools, ensuring consistency and excellence in EYFS provision.
  • Provide expert guidance and support to EYFS leads and practitioners across the Trust.
  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of Early Years provision, using data and evidence to inform improvements.
  • Facilitate professional development opportunities and communities of practice for EYFS staff.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders to ensure Early Years priorities are reflected in school development plans.
  • Stay abreast of national developments in Early Years education and ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of national and local initiatives which may affect the Trust’s policy and practice.
  • Use own learning to develop new and effective approaches to teaching and learning across the trust;
  • Support Teaching and Learning to ensure EYFS pupils make good progress and that staff are equipped with effective strategies to best support pupils, including:

➢ Modelling effective teaching, to coach and train colleagues

➢ Identifying and disseminating the most effective teaching approaches for pupils in EYFS

➢ Work with staff to develop effective ways of bridging barriers to learning through assessment of needs

➢ Working with pupils, class teachers and phase leaders to ensure realistic and challenging expectations of pupils

The job holder will be required to travel across the Trust schools as part of this role. Flexibility is available as to when the 0.2 FTE is worked during the school week.
