EBACC Achievement Leader & Teacher of Modern Foreign Languages (French) job summary
In line with our TORCH values, we are ambitious for all our students and passionate about removing barriers to ensure all students can access a highly academic curriculum. The leadership team are seeking an experienced linguist to lead the growth of uptake within the EBACC, where numbers of students choosing to study a language is the limiting factor. This role provides an exciting leadership opportunity to influence teaching and learning and curriculum opportunities across a number of subject areas within the EBACC whilst maintaining subject specialism in a modern foreign language.
The Role
You will have the opportunity to teach French to KS4 with the possibility of developing a second language in the future. The EBACC Achievement Leader will:
be responsible for providing strategic leadership of the EBACC. They are responsible for provision of high quality learning and outcomes for young people within their area of responsibility. They are expected to actively contribute to the calm learning environment and general order of the school by providing first line intervention of behaviour management to support staff within their team.
focus on driving recruitment to and achievement within the EBACC.
will have specific responsibility for driving improvements in T&L, coaching and Intervention.
will line manage the Head of MFL.
will maximise enrichment opportunities beyond the taught curriculum.
will support delivery of the wider, enriched curriculum in line with the school strategy as lead by the Assistant Headteacher responsible for Personal Development.
will be expected to meet the generic responsibilities of a teacher as identified in the Teacher Standards.

You will join a strong team of collaborators who drive whole school teaching and learning.
The MFL team has highly committed and experienced linguists who are keen to grow access, opportunities and success both within the taught MFL curriculum and the enriched curriculum.

You will have an innovative outlook and a commitment to the role together with a clear ambition and enthusiasm for Modern Foreign Languages and be fully involved in the life of the school.
The successful candidate will:
have a passion to enthuse students using expertise in Modern Foreign Languages
have strategic leadership ability
have expertise and a passion for pedagogy
teach French to KS3 and GCSE and possibly A level
teach a second MFL to KS3 and if appropriate GCSE
be outgoing, flexible and adaptable to cope with demands of the role
have a commitment to professional development
have experience of working with children
be able to manage a whole classroom environment
be a form tutor and support the academic and pastoral development of your tutor group
have a passion for extra-curricular/enrichment activities
