If so, we’d love to hear from you.

We are seeking an empathetic and dedicated Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a pupil with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Dyslexia, and Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA). This is an incredibly rewarding role where you will become a trusted, consistent adult in a child’s day — someone who helps them feel safe, builds their confidence, and supports them to access learning at a pace that works for them.

What You’ll Be Doing

Providing compassionate, personalised 1:1 support

Helping the pupil manage anxiety and feel secure at school

Using dyslexia-friendly, multisensory strategies

Delivering simple, structured literacy and numeracy support

Building emotional resilience and self-regulation

Working closely with teachers, our SENCO and external professionals

Communicating supportively with parents and carers

Celebrating every step forward — no matter how small

We’d love to meet you if you are:

Calm, patient and nurturing

Experienced (or eager to learn) in supporting children with SEMH or anxiety

Able to build strong, trusting relationships with vulnerable pupils

Skilled at adapting tasks and instructions

A clear communicator who works well with parents and staff

Committed to inclusion, safeguarding and child-centred practice

GCSE/Level 2 English and maths (or willingness to work toward Functional Skills) is required.

Experience with EBSA, trauma-informed practice, or behaviour support frameworks is welcome but not essential.

Why Join Millbrook?

A supportive, caring team

A school that believes in the potential of every child

Ongoing training and professional development
