  • Experience driving change across multiple schools, settings or local authorities.
  • Sharp analytical skills with the ability to translate complex data into actionable strategy.
  • The emotional intelligence to challenge constructively and support empathetically.
  • A deep, unwavering commitment to social justice and safeguarding.

This is a high-profile, Trust-wide role with significant strategic influence. You will shape, strengthen and assure our practice across attendance, safeguarding, SEND and inclusion. Your mandate is clear: ensure that every child, particularly the most vulnerable, is safe, present, supported and positioned to thrive.

This is not a single-school post. It is an opportunity to drive systemic improvement and equity at scale.

The Opportunity

Working directly alongside the Director of School Improvement, you will operate as a trusted professional partner to our schools. Combining credibility, analytical rigour and compassion, you will:

  • Provide strategic oversight across all Amethyst Academies Trust schools.
  • Support and challenge Headteachers and senior leaders to elevate standards.
  • Strengthen systems and culture, ensuring statutory compliance is embedded within a genuine culture of care.
  • Build sustainable capacity in safeguarding, attendance and inclusive practice.
  • Drive measurable improvements in outcomes and life chances for vulnerable learners.

Areas of Strategic Leadership

Attendance Strategy

  • Drive Trust-wide oversight of attendance data, trend analysis and risk mitigation.
  • Develop and embed evidence-informed strategies to eradicate persistent and severe absence.
  • Provide rapid, decisive intervention and challenge where attendance falls below expectations.
  • Integrate attendance protocols seamlessly with safeguarding and inclusion systems.
  • Identify, share and scale highly effective practice across the Trust family.

Safeguarding Leadership

  • Lead the strategic quality assurance of safeguarding systems and school cultures.
  • Provide expert coaching and guidance to DSLs and safeguarding teams.
  • Ensure absolute compliance with all statutory safeguarding guidance.
  • Conduct robust audits, deep-dive reviews and safeguarding evaluations.
  • Provide high-level support for complex cases and multi-agency collaboration.

SEND & Inclusion

  • Strengthen SEND leadership, strategy and provision across the Trust.
  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of EHCP implementation and provision mapping.
  • Champion inclusive, high-quality teaching for pupils with complex needs.
  • Implement strategies to reduce exclusions and accelerate outcomes for disadvantaged pupils.
  • Advocate relentlessly for equity of access to education.
