Education Welfare Officer (grade 6) job summary

Are you passionate about attendance and supporting young children and families.

Stuart Bathurst is seeking a dedicated Education Welfare Officer (EWO) to join our team. You will work supporting children, families, and schools to improve attendance and ensure every child receives access to education. You will support with:

Working with the parents to help them understand and fulfil their legal responsibilities in relation to school attendance.

Work with school and other agencies to reduce persistent absence, improve social/educational inclusion, and behaviour.

Assist in the development of a partnership between the home and school.

Support the school in fulfilling its statutory duties in relation to attendance and be capable of instigating legal action following appropriate protocols.

To analyse data, including identifying trends, concerns and referrals.

To refer cases to the School’s Designated Person for Safeguarding.

Work to the demands of the post and meet deadlines.
