Education Welfare Officer job summary

We are looking for a dedicated and professional Education Welfare Officer to work across the trust to promote and secure high levels of attendance and punctuality for all pupils. The postholder will work closely with school leaders, staff, pupils and families to reduce persistent absence, improve engagement and ensure compliance with legal requirements relating to school attendance. The ability to be flexible to travel between schools is required. The hours of work will be 37 hours per week, 39 weeks per year (term-time plus one week). We will also consider applications for part-time or job share.

Our ideal applicant will:

  • Have experience of working in education, safeguarding or family support
  • Have knowledge of legislation and statutory guidance relating to school attendance
  • Have experience of working with vulnerable families and external agencies
  • Be a strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Be able to form positive relationships within schools
  • Have a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
