Education Welfare Officer job summary

The Learning Academies Trust have an exciting opportunity for an Education Welfare Officer to support schools within the Trust. The EWO will help to improve attendance by building meaningful relationships with families, promoting positive attitudes towards regular attendance and enable the Trust to fulfil their legal requirements.
The successful candidate will:
- Have a thorough knowledge of legislation relating to school attendance, children missing education, elective home education and of legal interventions that are used as part of the suite of interventions for attendance.
- Have experience of working with schools on attendance related issues and have extensive experience of working with multi -agency partners.
- Be expected to conduct home visits and work independently, demonstrating initiative. A strong understanding of child safeguarding is essential.
- Demonstrate excellent organisational skills to maintain accurate records and maintain databases.
- Be an effective communicator, capable of engaging with parents, carers and children and external agencies.
