About the role
As our Education Welfare Officer, you will work across North Star Community Trust academies to improve school attendance, support families and help children overcome the barriers that prevent them from attending school regularly.
You will work closely with school leaders, parents, carers and external agencies to identify concerns early, manage complex cases and put the right support in place. From carrying out home visits to working with local authorities and safeguarding teams, your role will be key in helping pupils get the support they need to succeed.
This is a great opportunity for someone who is passionate about improving outcomes for children, building positive relationships with families and making a real difference across our Trust.
What we are looking for

You will ideally have:
Solid experience in school attendance, education welfare, pastoral support or working with families.
Experience managing complex cases and supporting families who may be struggling with their children’s attendance.
A good understanding of attendance guidance, safeguarding, persistent absence and the needs of vulnerable pupils.
Excellent communication skills and the confidence to build positive relationships with parents, carers, school staff and external agencies.
Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage a busy caseload, analyse attendance data and maintain accurate records.
Experience working with schools, local authorities and other agencies to support children and families.
A flexible approach and willingness to carry out home visits and travel between our academies.
Above all, you will share our commitment to safeguarding, inclusion and ensuring every child has the opportunity to succeed at school and in life.
