Pontefract Academies Trust is a cross phase Multi Academy Trust comprising of eight schools, six primaries and two 11 – 16 secondary schools. The Trust is a medium sized family of schools all located within a tight geographic hub within Pontefract. Pupils are drawn from the local community that includes a mix of different catchment areas.
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, hardworking and committed Education Welfare Officer at The King’s School. The candidate will engage with families to support them to engage with the school and recognise the importance of attendance and fulfil their legal responsibilities. They will use academic data from internal and external sources to plan, implement and evaluate attendance strategies in an aim to reduce pupil absence across the school.
This post is a 37 hours per week, permanent, term time plus two days role, equating to 192 working days per year.
In addition to the salary for this role, a recruitment and retention allowance of up to £3,000 per annum will be paid for an exceptional candidate. This will be an annual payment, reviewed for up to three years.

The King’s School is an 11-16 school with a long history being founded in 1139 making it one of the four oldest schools in Yorkshire. The school converted to academy status in 2013 and has planned admission number of 210 pupils in each year group.
