“Being the best version of Sprowston that we can be”

We are looking to appoint a dynamic, rigorous and people-centred person to lead and manage the holistic support provided to students, and their families, who come to us with Educational Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).

Sprowston Community Academy is committed to being an inclusive learning environment, and as such we have a significant number of students who join us with EHCPs in place and a number of students who have EHCP applications pending. We have a strong SEND leadership team that supports all SENDV students and their families to enjoy the best possible experiences both in and outside of the classroom.

The EHCP Manager will work closely with the Assistant Headteacher to ensure that the needs of students with EHCPs are fully known and understood. It is also essential they review the teaching and learning practice so it can be adapted to meet these needs. The successful candidate will ensure that coherent plans are in place to meet the provisions identified in Section F and that there are systems in place to review the impact of these provisions and to monitor the progress and well being of students. Attendance of those students with an EHCP will also be of paramount importance so working with families to ensure students are attending will be key.

Whilst it is envisaged that the successful candidate will demonstrate high levels of administrative efficiency, this is not an administrative role. It is envisaged that the EHCP Manager will be the key point of contact for all stakeholders, including students, families, teachers and the Local Authority and that they will be hands-on in planning, coordinating and reviewing provision. This will include responding to feedback so that provision is routinely reviewed and developed over time, both as part of the Annual Review process but also as part of the on-going assess, plan, do, review cycle.

The successful candidate will have significant experience of working with SEND students and their families and will have a strong understanding of the SEND landscape in Norfolk. An ability to work with others in a collaborative and resourceful way is essential as are very strong interpersonal and communication skills

Sprowston Community Academy is a growing 11-18 school serving the North-east of Norwich. We are exceptionally proud of our place within the local community and our strong local reputation reflects this. We are an inclusive school and believe passionately that students need to be equipped as good citizens as well as good learners. The successful applicant will work with us to fully promote this ethos whilst also striving for academic excellence.
