The Role
As an ELSA, you will play a vital role in supporting students with social, emotional, and mental health needs. Working closely with the SEN team, you will:
- Deliver 1:1 and small group interventions on topics such as friendships, anxiety, anger management, and exam stress.
- Support pupils in understanding and regulating their emotions.
- Collaborate with staff, parents/carers, and external agencies.
- Assist in developing and implementing Support Plans.
- Provide mentoring and pastoral support to vulnerable pupils.
- Help pupils reintegrate after absence.
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking an inspirational, empathetic, and proactive individual who:
- Is passionate about mental health and emotional well-being.
- Has excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Can build strong, positive relationships with pupils and adults.
- Demonstrates resilience, flexibility, and a commitment to inclusion.
- Holds GCSEs (Grade C+ or equivalent) in English and Maths.
- Has (or is willing to train for) an ELSA qualification.
Desirable Skills
- Experience working with children with SEN.
- Understanding of support strategies.
- Ability to create and monitor individual support plans.
- A team player with a positive, reflective attitude.
