ECTs warmly welcomed

With you in our classrooms, we can change lives.

We're looking for a dedicated Teacher of English and Media to join our warm, supportive team at Winton Community Academy from September 2025.

Ready for your talents to be nurtured?

This is a fantastic role for a newly qualified teacher, as we can offer mentorship and a world-class induction programme, delivered through our trust network (Lift Schools) via Ambition Institute. You will have your ECT programme tailored to your specific needs and skills and benefit from our friendly, kind and experienced team who are able to lead by example.

For more experienced colleagues, we can offer you potential future leadership opportunities in either Media Studies or English, and/or the chance to mentor PGCE/ITT students, for those who are interested. Again, as part of our trust network, we can offer you the possibility to gain your National Professional qualifications at either middle leadership or senior leadership level.

Our English and Media department has a well-resourced curriculum and the department works really collaboratively, making the most of their protected co-planning time. We strongly believe in a healthy work-life balance so there is a streamlined approach to marking and assessment, which runs alongside digital tools to reduce teacher workload. We also benefit from library links to curriculum time. English is popular subject at Winton and our students love to get involved in field trips and extra-curricular activities. The team is vibrant, energetic and fun and loves to collaborate, share and work together to make every day interesting and rewarding.

This is an opportunity to make a tangible impact on the lives of young people.

The school has rapidly improved and was graded a "Good" school by Ofsted in 2018. Our school is quickly gaining a positive reputation across Andover as a place where excellent teaching and strong support means that students thrive at our school.

Our students are our absolute strength. They are overwhelmingly polite, respectful and hard-working. We expect our students to work hard and behave well both inside and outside of the classroom. Over the last two years we have invested heavily in improving the resources that students have access to such as a new dance studio, a new library and the development of our animal management area as we believe our students deserve the best in order to be successful. As a community, we live and breathe our school values as we all understand that by adhering to them our community will be a better place to learn.
