We are keen to appoint a highly motivated class teacher to join our Middle Leadership Team as the English Subject Leader from September 2024. The post-holder will have responsibility for leading the teaching and learning of English across the school; they will lead a small team of people to ensure that all aspects of English are taught to a high standard. Half a day release time will be allocated most weeks to ensure that the post-holder has the capacity to lead the subject effectively.
We use PiXL membership to support the provision and use of summative assessment and interventions. Experience of these programmes is desirable, but not essential, as training can be given.
Sidegate is a 3-form-entry primary school in the north of Ipswich with 660 pupils on roll. The school serves a large catchment area with a wide demographic. The school has two Local Authority Specialist Education Units for pupils with a complexity of needs. These units and mainstream combined mean that the school has a higher than average number of pupils on the SEND register.
The school boasts large grounds, an indoor swimming pool, gymnasium and good ICT provision. We pride ourselves on the broad and rich curriculum that we offer to our pupils and our extensive extracurricular activities, which include residential visits in all KS2 year groups. Sidegate is a Platinum Artsmark school and annually achieves the Suffolk School Sports Gold Award. The school received a “Good” Ofsted rating in October 2022. The work of the English Subject Leader will be integral to ensuring that the teaching and learning of the curriculum is of a high standard and that opportunities are maintained and extended even further.
Sidegate became an academy in May 2014 with The Active Learning Trust (ALT). ALT encourages each of their schools to develop a curriculum that meets the needs of the pupils in the school.
