Melbury College’s Canterbury Campus is a KS3 and KS4 Pupil Referral Unit providing high-quality education for pupils who have been permanently excluded, on respite, new to the borough or without a school place. We offer a nurturing, structured and ambitious environment where every young person is supported to re-engage, progress and succeed.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled English Teacher to join our dedicated team. You will deliver high-quality English teaching across KS3 and KS4, using trauma-informed and relational approaches to support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

The Role

• Teach English across KS3 and KS4 with strong subject knowledge

• Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons

• Use restorative and trauma-informed practices

• Monitor progress, provide high-quality feedback and maintain accurate records

• Contribute to pastoral support as a form tutor

• Work collaboratively with colleagues and external professionals

About You

• Qualified Teacher Status

• Strong English subject knowledge at KS3 & KS4

• Experience working with pupils with SEMH needs (desirable but not essential)

• Ability to motivate, inspire and build positive relationships

• Strong behaviour management and restorative practice skills

• Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive education

Lavender Campus provides education for all students in Merton who, because of medical and/or mental health needs are unable to attend school. The role will be based within provision, teaching year 9,10 and 11 students using Trauma Informed teaching strategies. Class sizes are small and our emphasis is on enabling our students to develop their independence and resilience through learning. We have high expectations of our students and this is reflected in our GCSE results.
