We are seeking to appoint a confident, enthusiastic, and highly organisedExaminations Managerto join our dedicated support staff team. This is a pivotal role within the school, offering an exciting opportunity to contribute to a key aspect of school operations at a strategic and operational level.
The Examinations Manager is responsible for theend-to-end management, coordination, and administration of all internal and external examinations, ensuring that all processes are conducted efficiently, securely, and in full compliance with the regulations set by the Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) and relevant awarding bodies.
Acting as themain point of contact for all examination matters, you will work closely with the Headteacher and senior leadership team, providing expert guidance to ensure the centre consistently meets regulatory requirements and maintains the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
You will oversee theentire examination lifecycle, including:
- Candidate registrations, entries, and amendments
- Examination timetabling and rooming
- training, and deployment of invigilators
- Secure handling and storage of confidential examination materials
- Administration of access arrangements in partnership with SEND colleagues
- Management of examination days, ensuring compliance with all regulations
- Results processing, publication, and post-results services
A critical part of the role is ensuring that allkey deadlines are met, preventing unnecessary costs such as late or amended entry fees, and maintaining rigorous administrative accuracy throughout.
You will lead and manage the examinations function within the school, including:
- The effective line management of examinations support staff
- The recruitment, training, and ongoing development of a team of invigilators
- Close collaboration with reception, site, and IT teams to ensure examination environments meet all regulatory requirements
- Liaison with awarding bodies, external agencies, and internal stakeholders
You will play a central role in ensuring thatexams run smoothly and efficiently, often under significant time pressures, and will demonstrate strong leadership in coordinating people, processes, and resources.
The role requires a detailed working knowledge (or willingness to develop expertise) ofJCQ regulations and awarding body requirements, with responsibility for ensuring that the school remains fully compliant at all times.
You will:
- Maintain and implement all required examinations policies and procedures
- Support internal audits and inspections
- Contribute to contingency planning and risk management arrangements
- Work proactively to prevent malpractice and maladministration
- Ensure the integrity and security of examination materials and processes at all stages
Your work will directly contribute to safeguarding thereputation and credibility of the school.
The Examinations Manager plays a vital role in supporting students during an important stage of their education. You will ensure that:
- Students are entered accurately for the correct qualifications
- Examinations are conducted in a fair and supportive environment
- Access arrangements are implemented appropriately
- Results are delivered accurately and on time
You will also provide guidance and support to staff, helping them understand examination requirements and procedures, and working collaboratively to ensure best practice across the school.
We are looking for a candidate who:
- Hasexcellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage a complex workload and prioritise effectively
- Demonstratesexceptional attention to detail and accuracy, particularly when working to tight deadlines
- Remainscalm, resilient, and adaptable under pressure, especially during peak examination periods
- Possessesstrong interpersonal and communication skills, with the confidence to liaise with a wide range of stakeholders
- Has experience of managing administrative processes, ideally within examinations (or a willingness to learn quickly)
- Is confident inleading and managing teams, including invigilators and administrative staff
- Has strong ICT skills and experience using databases and management information systems
- Is proactive, solutions-focused, and able to exercise sound judgement and decision-making
- Demonstrates professionalism, discretion, and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality at all times
