Exams Invigilator job summary

Main duties and responsibilities:

1. To assist in setting up of examinations rooms.

2. To ensure all candidates receive the appropriate examination papers.

3. To ensure papers are collected and kept securely until returned to the Exams Office.

4. To ensure candidates obey the regulations of the examination room, as laid out in the examination’s guidelines.

5. To maintain security and confidentiality.

6. To record attendance on the official examination registers.

7. To ensure no unauthorised items are brought into the examination room, such as bags, coats, mobile phones, watches, air pods, earphones/earbuds revision notes etc.

8. Ensure all candidates are aware of the pre-exam information and of any erratum notices that may affect them.

9. To ensure there is no talking or disruption by the candidates once in the exam room.

10. To ensure all candidates are seated and facing the front.

11. To ensure that Invigilators DO NOT help candidates in any way with the question paper. (Invigilators can only read instructions to the candidates from the front page of the exam paper.)

12. To dismiss students one row at a time.

13. Collecting posters and equipment from the room at the end of the exam.

14. To assist in other activities as may reasonably be requested by the centre from time to time.

15. To maintain confidentiality at all times, in respect of school related matters and to prevent disclosure of confidential and sensitive information.

16. To undertake any other duties of a similar level and responsibility as may be required.

General

Undertake any other duties associated with the role of the Examinations Invigilator, or as part of the Administration Team, as directed by the Examinations Officer/Deputy Headteacher.
