Exams Officer job summary

Exams Officer

37 hours per week term time only plus 2 weeks across the school holidays (attendance will be required in August for the GCSE/A-Level results)

8am - 4pm Monday to Thursday and 8am - 3.30pm Friday (including half an hour unpaid lunch)

NJC Level 6 (£36,508-£40,958 FTE) - (£32,067-£35,975 actual 40 weeks)

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed professional to oversee and manage all our examination processes which will require effective liaison with Exam Boards, students, staff and Senior Leadership. The successful candidate will ensure the organisation and delivery of internal and external examinations within the school in accordance with local and national guidance.

The Examinations Officer is responsible for the organisation and smooth running of both internal and external examinations. They will be familiar with the requirements and regulations placed on schools by both awarding bodies and the Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) and will ensure that the school is compliant with these before, during, and after examination periods.

The successful applicant will have excellent prioritisation and organisation skills and a keen eye for detail. A high level of IT proficiency is particularly important. Team working and leadership skills are important as the Exams Officer will work closely with curriculum leaders and support staff and will lead a team of Exam Invigilators. The post holder will have contact with students and at times their parents, hence clear communication skills with a calm approach will be vital.

Previous experience in a similar role will be advantageous. Experience of exam administration is desirable. Training, development and progression opportunities are encouraged and available for the right person. Further information can be found in the detailed job description below.
