The Role: ASC Unit Class Teacher

We are seeking an exceptional class teacher to join our newly established ASC unit, set to open in September 2025, with a class of 8 pupils. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of our school's journey as we expand our provision to better support pupils with Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC) within Milton Keynes.

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver high-quality, engaging lessons tailored to the specific needs of pupils with ASC

Collaborate closely with the SENCO and support staff to ensure the effective implementation of each pupil's EHCP

Foster a warm, inclusive, and structured learning environment that promotes the social, emotional, and academic development of your pupils

Continuously assess and monitor pupil progress, using data to inform your teaching and provide regular feedback

Work closely with parents and external agencies to ensure a holistic, child-centred approach to supporting each pupil's needs

Requirements:

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

Experience teaching pupils with ASC or other special educational needs

Excellent knowledge of strategies and approaches to support the learning and wellbeing of pupils with ASC

Ability to differentiate and adapt your teaching to meet the diverse needs of your pupils

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven track record of effective collaboration with parents and colleagues

Desirable Qualities:

Additional qualifications or training in special educational needs

Experience working in a mainstream setting with an ASC unit or specialist provision

Enthusiasm for continuous professional development and a commitment to staying up to date with the latest research and best practises
