What skills and experience we're looking for
This role which is of obvious critical importance in the trust as we go forward into the next 5 years of our work recognises a deliberate movement on the part of our trustees to strengthen our work on strategic leadership within all phases of learning. The successful candidate will work closely with our Chief and Deputy Chief Executive Officers, our Executive Principal who leads Post-16 Education, our trustees, academy Principals and Directors on all aspects of strategic and operational delivery. The successful candidate will also lead on some of our most important projects linked to trust performance to enhance the achievement of disadvantaged children and young adults. The ability of our young people to go on to secure the Gift of Choice is one of our core missions. Alongside working in partnership to ensure the achievement of our children is outstanding, the successful candidate will also oversee all aspects of careers, destinations and associated partnerships to ensure all our children, especially those whose lives are characterised by privation, are able to secure next steps in their education and employment which are highly engaging and rewarding.
The successful candidate is likely to have already established an impressive track record of leadership within education, including the successful leadership of a school. You will need to have a determination to focus on changing the opportunities available to children whose lives are characterised by privation and an expert understanding of what causes those children to excel in their learning. You will also need to be able to display your support for our values which are built upon diligence, integrity, rectitude and kindness.
What the school offers its staff
The GORSE Academies Trust is renowned for its work in transforming the life chances of children and young people from some of the most disadvantaged communities in the country. Based in the Leeds city region the trust has formed a model of excellence which is receiving national attention because of its positive impact on all pupils regardless of their background. The trust has grown slowly and with great care since it was formed in 2011, and it is still the case that our professionals work together very closely in a highly productive manner.
