EYFS Assistant Headteacher job summary

We are seeking to appoint a talented, dedicated and inspirational Assistant Headteacher who will share our determination to transform the life chances of our wonderful pupils. We need someone who is passionate about bringing the classroom to life, up for a challenge and can work flexibly and creatively to reshape the Early Years provision for the future. This is an exciting opportunity to take a pivotal leadership role in a vibrant, inclusive and diverse primary school. This is a full-time role (L4- 8) with a 0.8 teaching commitment in Reception.

This role would suit an experienced Assistant Headteacher seeking a new challenge, or an ambitious Middle Leader ready to step into their first Senior Leadership role. We are looking for a leader with a proven track record of impact, who is ready to translate vision into practice and drive sustained school improvement.

The Assistant Headteacher will play a pivotal role in translating the school’s vision into consistent, high-quality practice. A key focus of the role is ensuring children in the Early Years continue to receive the best start, alongside driving improvements in teaching, curriculum, behaviour and inclusion across the school.

We are looking for a positive, adaptable and solution-focused leader with strong expertise in early reading and continuous provision, a commitment to inclusion, and a proven track record of improving teaching and learning.
