Wistow Parochial C of E Primary School and its governing body are seeking to appoint a highly motivated and inspirational GTA, who will be working in our Selby class, with our Reception and Year 1 pupils. We are a faith school, who promote our school’s core values of: respect, resilience, honesty and forgiveness. Our school is continually evolving and therefore needs a new dynamic and enthusiastic team member to join us at this exciting time.

At Wistow, we all work together as a team to support, encourage each other and make sure that everyone achieves their full potential and that we all ’Be the best that we can be!’ We were judged by Ofsted as ‘Good’ in December 2019, with ‘Outstanding’ in Personal Development and we were also judged ‘Outstanding’ in our last church school SIAMS inspection in June 2017.

We are looking for someone who has high expectations and can motivate and support children in their learning, in order for them to complete tasks and make good progress whilst having fun. Also, we are potentially looking for someone who has the necessary HLTA qualifications, so that our other KS1 class (Fountains Class) can be covered for one full day a week, term time only.

This is an exciting opportunity for you to join our energetic, committed and passionate team, where we strive to achieve excellence in all we do.

We are looking for:
• A good or outstanding practitioner
• A confident person with a passion and drive for improvement
• An awareness of national expectations across EYFS and Key Stage1
• Ideally, someone with RWI training or sound phonics knowledge
• An exceptional HLTA with an excellent knowledge of the curriculum and confidence to deliver learning in a fun and exciting way for all children
• Someone with high expectations of themselves and of children’s achievements, attainment and behaviour
• A hard working person who is driven and adaptable to change
• Someone who will work with a genuine child-centred approach
• A Teaching Assistant who puts children at the heart of all they do
• A strong communicator who has the ability to work as part of a team
• Someone with a strong commitment to ensuring excellent pupil progress
• A positive practitioner, who is organised and creative in their practise and who seeks to inspire and excite
• An innovative and inspirational adult, to both pupils and colleagues
• A team player who enjoys a collaborative style approach to working and learning
• Someone who is committed to raising standards and encouraging excellence
• A confident user of IT and computing resources in the learning environment
• Someone with basic Safeguarding training
• Someone who will foster relationships with the children, parents and the community, and also be able to communicate professionally with external agencies
• A fun and enthusiastic person who is ready to be part of something special and who displays and embodies our school mission statement and values.

Welcome to Wistow. As Headteacher, I am extremely proud of our school and our wonderful children who make this such a great place to work and learn. We are committed to providing the very best possible care and education for all our children and our staff and governors are dedicated to ensuring each child experiences high quality teaching and learning, which nurtures and supports their individual interests and talents.

We strive to provide our children with a vibrant, engaging curriculum which motivates and inspires them to become enthusiastic, lifelong learners. We also enjoy excellent links with our local community and we participate in events and projects within the local area.

At Wistow, everyone matters. The school’s values of honesty, resilience, forgiveness and respect are closely linked to Christian teaching and are at the heart of the life of the school. As a faith school, we are incredibly proud that we were judged as ‘Outstanding’ in our 2017 Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools (SIAMS).

We believe strongly that education is a partnership between children, staff, governors and parents. If we work together, the most important aspect of the partnership will benefit – the pupils. Learning is a journey and it is one that we hope we can take together and make every child and ourselves ‘the best that we can be’.

As a school we are committed to continual improvement and are dedicated to ensuring your child’s time with us will be happy, enjoyable and inspiring. If you wish to know more, telephone/email for further details or come and visit the school, where we will be more than happy to show you around.
