EYFS Lead job summary
Are you an energetic, imaginative and passionate Early Years practitioner who believes in giving every child the very best start? Do you thrive in environments where no two days are the same, creativity flows freely and children’s unique strengths are celebrated?
If so, Fosse Way School would love to meet you.
We are a vibrant, forward‑thinking specialist school supporting children and young people aged 3-19 with a wide range of needs. Our Early Years pupils bring joy, curiosity and personality to every day, and we are proud of the nurturing, playful and communication‑rich provision we offer.
Recently, Ofsted recognised that while our school has many strengths, our rapidly growing EYFS cohort brings exciting opportunities for development. We are embracing this wholeheartedly — and now we’re looking for an EYFS Lead who can help us shape the next chapter.
This is your chance to make a lasting impact.
🌟What We’re Looking For
We want someone who is:
Inspirational — able to lead others with vision, positivity and purpose
Enthusiastic — excited about play‑based learning, sensory exploration and early communication
Creative — full of brilliant ideas for environments, curriculum and child‑led learning
Reflective and skilled — able to align our EYFS curriculum with the changing needs of our pupils
Child‑centred — passionate about placing each child’s voice, interests and developmental pathway at the heart of everything
This is a role where your expertise will genuinely shape the future of our Early Years provision. We want a leader who brings both expert knowledge and infectious enthusiasm, someone who sees potential everywhere and is energised by helping children take their earliest steps toward independence and adulthood.
In return, we can offer:
Children who will make you smile every day
- A strong commitment to professional development and career progression across the Trust
- A dedicated, supportive and creative team who strive for excellence
- A supportive and encouraging Leadership Team
- Access to a comprehensive Employee Assistance Programme providing professional advice and wellbeing support
- The backing of a Trust that values its staff and respects the individuality of each school within the partnership
We warmly encourage visits to our school to experience first-hand what we can offer. Please contact the school office to arrange a convenient time.

Thank you for expressing an interest in working at Fosse Way School.
Fosse Way School is a special school located in Radstock, just south of Bath on the edge of the Mendip hills. It is extremely popular and has 220 pupils on roll. Our pupils have moderate or severe learning difficulties, with many having communication and language difficulties, including a diagnosis of autism. Due to its popularity, it has been oversubscribed for a number of years. The school worked closely with an active parent support group which was successful in its bid to set up a new school – The Mendip School.
Fosse Way School is a member of The Partnership Trust, which is a multi-academy trust.
Fosse Way School runs the Specialist Autism Support Service a service commissioned by Bath and North East Somerset Local Authority to support autistic children and young adults up to the age of 25 across the county. We also run the local SEND network and behavior service. We were the first school in the UK to set up Project Search, a work-based supported internship, in conjunction with Bath Royal United Hospital. On site we run our training café Longfellows where students are able to take part in valuable work based learning opportunities. Fosse Way also has a residential provision for up to 12 students.
We would welcome applications from people who may currently be working in mainstream schools. A full training and support programme is offered to those who may not have previously worked in a special school.
If you would like to find out more about Fosse Way please visit our website or come in and have a tour of the school.
If you decide to apply, may I thank you for your time in putting your application together and the interest you have shown in Fosse Way.
