Start Date: September 2025

Deadline: Wednesday 26th March at 9am

Interview Date: Thursday 3rd April 2025 (Visits to successful candidates in their own setting will be made from 31st March to 2nd April 2025).

St Matthew’s C of E Primary & Nursery Academy is seeking to appoint an EYFS Phase Lead to support the wider senior leadership team. This is an exciting opportunity for an outstanding teacher who is ready to take the next step in their professional journey or for an existing leader who is excited about the challenge of a larger setting. This role will allow you to make a difference to the provision and development of three classes, one of which you will teach. Our school is two form entry but we are accepting up to 90 pupils for the 25-26 academic year due to high demand. You will also work closely with our Nursery Lead to ensure an enriching EYFS experience for all of our pupils. If you are motivated about developing the Early Years curriculum, raising standards and providing stimulating learning experiences for young minds, we want to hear from you!

With support from our Assistant Headteacher for EYFS & KS1, you will be responsible for the day-to-day leadership of the reception year group as well as having a role to play in shaping the strategic direction of Early Years in school. This is an exciting opportunity where you will be able to use your strong pedagogy and philosophy for Early Years, along with your creative flare and zest for learning, to lead our EYFS team towards becoming a beacon of excellence.

As part of St Christopher’s Trust, we can offer a fantastic range of professional development opportunities whatever your career stage and we are looking for leaders that relish a challenge, stand out from the crowd and really want to make a difference.

We offer:

·       Wonderful staff and facilities

·       A strong track record of career progression

·       A good school (Ofsted 2022) with aspirations to become a beacon school.

·       A welcoming, nurturing school with a strong ethos and set of values that underpin all that we do

·       Children who are happy and motivated to learn and a supportive, welcoming and hardworking staff team

·       The opportunity to work in a modern school, with spacious grounds within Plymouth’s Ocean city.

 The successful candidate will:

·       Be a proven strong EYFS teacher who has a clear understanding of high-quality teaching, learning and curriculum.

·       Have leadership skills that will enable staff to flourish and pupils to reach their potential, underpinned by a strong personal philosophy and clear pedagogical subject knowledge.

·       Be happy to support the Church of England ethos of our school through our school values.

·       Be dedicated to raising standards and removing barriers to learning for all pupils.

·       Have high expectations of themselves and pupils with a positive, can do and proactive nature.

·       A commitment to developing an engaging and exciting curriculum based on practical and first-hand learning experiences set within a very strong learning environment.
