EYFS Teaching Assistant (Maternity Cover) job summary

Contract Details: FTE 28.75 hours per week, term time plus one week.

Monday to Friday 08:45 to 12:15 and 13:15 to 15:30

Lunch duty - half an hour at £10.50 per hour pro rata (claimed as additional hours)

The person that we are looking for needs to:

  • have experience of working in the Early Years

  • have a DFE approved Early Years qualification

  • be highly committed to providing children with the best possible learning opportunities

  • Be a good classroom practitioner with experience of working within the Early Years Foundation Stage.

  • Have a good understanding of monitoring children’s progress and provide detailed next steps in learning. 

  • Have high expectations and aspirations for all children.

  • Be able to plan and deliver bespoke child centred intervention.

  • Develop high quality teaching and learning for pupils of all abilities

  • Be able to work well as a member of both the Early Years and whole school team.

  • Have aclear understanding of the teaching of phonics and a willingness to plan for and lead groups

  • Demonstrate initiative

  • Have boundless enthusiasm with a keen sense of humour!


This post will be reporting directly to our Early Years Lead and will be based at Edgar Sewter Primary School
