Join Our Reception Team
Mount Street Primary School is seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic and caring EYFS Teaching Assistant to join our Reception team on a temporary basis to cover maternity leave.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting our youngest learners as they begin their educational journey. Working closely with the class teacher, you will help create a stimulating, engaging and inclusive learning environment where every child can thrive.
We are looking for someone who is passionate about Early Years education and committed to supporting children to achieve their full potential academically, socially and emotionally.
What You'll Be Doing
As our EYFS Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Support the delivery of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum.
- Encourage learning through play, exploration and child-led activities.
- Help children develop positive personal, social and emotional skills.
- Support children with additional needs, including SEND and EAL pupils.
- Assist with observations, assessments and learning journals.
- Prepare and maintain engaging indoor and outdoor learning environments.
- Deliver planned learning activities under the guidance of the class teacher.
- Promote positive behaviour and inclusion.
- Work collaboratively with staff, parents and carers to support pupil progress.
- Provide classroom and administrative support as required.
- Support pupils during lunchtime play and educational visits.
What We're Looking For
Essential Requirements
- NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.
- GCSE English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent).
- At least one year's experience working in a primary school, ideally within an Early Years or Reception setting.
- Experience supporting children with additional needs.
- A strong understanding of safeguarding responsibilities.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- A positive, enthusiastic and flexible approach to supporting children and colleagues.
Desirable
- NVQ Level 3 (or working towards).
- Experience supporting whole classes, groups and individual pupils.
- Knowledge of ICT in the classroom.
- Experience delivering interventions.
- Knowledge of TEACCH and/or PECS approaches.
- Willingness to support extra-curricular activities.
