Wilburton Church of England Primary School is looking to appoint an inspiring and highly driven Early Years Practitioner to join our EYFS team.

We require someone who:

  • has good experience of working with children in a Reception class
  • has high expectations of all pupils, and shows these consistently day-in, day-out
  • holds a Level 3 Early Years Qualification
  • knows how to use their interactions with children to support their development

Purpose of Post

1. To contribute to the planning, observation and teaching cycle of EYFS children.

2. To ensure the school aims of creating high-quality adult child interactions and an oracy rich environment are fostered.

3. To meet the needs of individual children from different cultures, religious backgrounds and stages of development.

Person Specification

1. Have a Level 3 Early Years Qualification.

2. Be able to work with young children, identifying next steps and progression and where appropriate keep accurate records.

3. Be able to work as part of a team, showing initiative and stepping in when needed.

4. Be an effective communicator, including liaising with EYFS Lead, EYFS Staff, SENCO and parents/carers.

5. Knowledge, understanding and experience of developing vocabulary, speech and communication skills.

6. Knowledge, understanding and experience of developing secure early Mathematics.

7. Be in-line with our school ethos and approach.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Facilitate a nurturing, supportive and welcoming environment.

2. Support and observe children, liaise with the EYFS Lead to make reasonable adjustments to ensure children succeed and effectively track progress.

3. Work with parents/carers of all children including those with additional needs ensuring full integration in the Setting; inclusive practice.

4. Support all staff and engage in a good staff team.

5. To be involved in out of working hours activities, e.g. training, monthly staff meetings, fundraising events

6. To be flexible within working practices of the setting.

7. Work alongside the EYFS team to ensure that the ethos and values of the School are fulfilled.

8. Recording accidents /incidents in the correct manner: in line with school practice.

9. To respect the confidentiality of information received.

10. To develop your role within the team.

11. To actively promote and support the safeguarding of children and young people in the workplace, ensuring policies and procedures are observed at all times.
