What skills and experience we're looking for

Do you have a passion for continuous provision in Key Stage one?

We are looking for a cracking EYFS teacher to join our team in the Federation of Burley and Sopley! This position will be based at Burley Primary, in our mixed age Year R and Year 1 class. Within our setting, we work on a continuous provision model - we do not have tables and chairs for every child and encourage our children to engage in play based learning inside and outside our classroom. We are privilege to have amazing grounds and maintain smaller than average classes. We work closely with our team at Sopely, benefiting from shared PPA sessions to collaborate, share workload and expertise!

We hope that the successful candidate will be able to undertake a period of shadowing the current teacher, and also be available to joining us for our INSET days on 22nd and 23rd October, where we will be working alongside Kit Messager (the author of curious not furious) to develop our thinking around empowering all working in our school.

We are seeking a teacher who:

  • Has a passion for great early years practice and is confident how these principles will look for children in Year One.

  • Is kind, caring and understands the power of positive relationships between the adults and children in their class.

  • Is inclusive and understands the importance of belonging within a classroom

  • Works effectively as part of a team

  • Is a strong and clear communicator

  • Understands how children learn and develop

  • Contributes actively to the wider life of the school

  • Fosters a nurturing, inclusive classroom while maintaining high expectations for all pupils

  • Collaborates confidently with teaching assistants and shares responsibility for classroom provision

  • Actively shares ideas and supports colleagues

  • Demonstrates honesty, professionalism, and a commitment to safeguarding

  • Is willing and able to travel across our Federation for meetings and shared PPA time

What the school offers its staff

What we offer:

  • A welcoming and supportive school community

  • A collaborative staff team committed to shared planning and workload

  • Ring-fenced time for additional responsibilities

  • A positive, inclusive working environment across two village schools

  • Rural location with lots of opportunity to make impact!

  • A well set up learning environment.

  • This post is initially for a fixed period of 1 year, but is determined by the ending of current maternity leave.
