About the role
We are seeking to appoint a reliable, proactive and hardworking Facilities Assistant to support the smooth day-to-day running of our school site.
Working under the direction of the Superintendent and senior staff, you will play an important role in maintaining a safe, secure and well-presented environment for pupils, staff and visitors.
Key responsibilities include:
- Opening, closing and securing the school site, including routine security checks and alarm operation
- Supporting the maintenance and upkeep of the building and grounds
- Carrying out minor repairs and general maintenance (e.g. basic plumbing, changing light fittings, DIY tasks)
- Assisting with cleaning duties, waste disposal, litter picking and keeping external areas safe (including gritting in winter)
- Preparing rooms and moving furniture/equipment for lessons, events and lettings
- Supporting contractors on site and ensuring works are completed safely
- Identifying and reporting faults, hazards and maintenance issues
- Supporting the smooth running of lettings and site use outside of the school day
What we are looking for
The successful candidate will:
- Have practical DIY or maintenance skills
- Be able to work independently and as part of a team
- Be organised, reliable and able to manage a varied workload
- Take pride in maintaining a clean, safe and welcoming environment
- Demonstrate a positive, professional attitude and good communication skills
- Have an understanding of health and safety requirements
- Be physically able to carry out manual tasks, including moving equipment and furniture
Previous experience in a caretaking, site or facilities role is desirable but not essential.
