Family Liaison Worker job summary

The Role:

We are looking for a dedicated, compassionate and highly organised Family Liaison Worker to play a key role in supporting pupils, families and staff across Doubletrees School. Working at the heart of our pastoral provision, you will help build strong, positive relationships between home and school, ensuring that families feel supported, informed and empowered to access the help they need.

This varied and rewarding role involves working closely with pupils who may face barriers to learning, attendance, engagement or wellbeing. You will act as a trusted point of contact for families, providing advice, guidance and practical support, while coordinating with teachers, school leaders and external agencies to achieve the best possible outcomes for every child.

The successful candidate will lead on family engagement initiatives, attend and facilitate meetings, complete referrals, coordinate support plans and help families navigate services available within the local community. You will also play an important role in promoting positive attendance, supporting admissions and transitions, and ensuring that pastoral interventions are effectively monitored and recorded.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build positive relationships with pupils, families and external professionals.
  • Support family engagement, attendance and pupil wellbeing.
  • Coordinate and lead meetings with families and partner agencies.
  • Complete referrals and act as Lead Professional where appropriate.
  • Organise and deliver support sessions for pupils and parents.
  • Maintain accurate records and monitor the impact of interventions.
  • Support admissions, transitions and pastoral projects across the school.
  • Work collaboratively to ensure the best possible outcomes for children and young people with SEND.
