At The Brent Primary School, our children are at the heart of everything we do. We are proud of our warm, inclusive, and caring ethos, where every pupil is inspired to achieve their best. We are seeking a committed Teaching Assistant who shares our passion for nurturing confidence, curiosity, and a love of learning.

Whether supporting whole-class teaching, working with small groups, or providing tailored support to individual pupils, you’ll play a vital role in helping our children flourish. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a friendly, skilled, and supportive staff team who work together to make a lasting difference.

Key Responsibilities

We are seeking to appoint a Family Support Assistant to work at The Brent Primary School. You will be required to work in consultation with the Headteacher, Family Support Manager, SENDco and outside agencies to provide support in addressing the needs of our pupils and families who may be vulnerable, demotivated, or disengaged in overcoming a range of barriers to learning. This support will include working individually and with small groups of pupils, parents and with other professionals/agencies.

You will support the active engagement of parents/carers in their child’s learning, wellbeing and development, through establishing and promoting a positive and effective working partnership between stakeholders, and other agencies, with the shared goal of improving outcomes.

You will support families in many different ways:

  • Supporting the inclusion of children in a mainstream school by building and maintaining positive links with families.
  • Support with attendance and lateness.
  • Providing advice on behaviour support
  • Offering support strategies and resources
  • Parent confidence building and putting parents in contact with other agencies and services.

You will work with our pastoral team to ensure key information is shared and supporting other practitioners and class teams to implement action plans and put the relevant support in place.

As the Family Support Assistant, you will be involved in extended services such as organising parent events and sign posting to external training and events. You will contribute to transition and reintegration work, ensuring integration of students and families into school, ensuring a consistency of approach and treatment.

  • Communicates clearly and builds positive relationships with children and adults.
  • Is adaptable, reflective, and open to learning new skills.
  • Has strong organisational skills and is proactive and resilient.
  • Shares our values of respect, resilience, kindness, and aspiration.

Previous experience in a school setting is desirable, but enthusiasm and a commitment to seeking positive outcomes are just as important.
