Family Support, Attendance and Deputy Safeguarding Lead job summary

From 1st September 2025, we are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, hard-working and highly motivated Family Support Worker / Attendance / Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, to join our happy and successful school. The post will be permanent, 32.5 hours a week, for 39 weeks of the academic year.
The successful candidate will:
- Be able to work as part of a team, within the school, to maintain whole school attendance at above national average by closely monitoring pupil absence and working with families and staff to improve pupil attendance.
- Provide information, advice and guidance, to parents/carers, on matters relating to school attendance, in order to provide a ‘first day response’ to attendance issues.
- To support and provide advice and information to parents of pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs or low attendance.
- Plan and deliver parental support, including parenting programmes, in school and lead on other attendance and wellbeing initiatives.
- Be able to work under the supervision of the senior Designated Safeguarding Leads to manage referrals, attend safeguarding meetings and liaise with other agencies, families and staff to ensure the safeguarding of pupils.
- Have experience of working in an educational setting or within a similar/relevant position to provide appropriate advice and support to pupils, families and staff'.
- Undertake home visits as required.
- Liaise with the Headteacher, Deputy, class based and administration staff relating to information received, and with other agencies as appropriate on matters relating to attendance and Safeguarding.
- Have experience of writing and maintaining accurate records.
