About the RoleAs Family Support Worker / Coordinator, you will lead and coordinate family support and outreach provision across the school, with a particular focus on engaging vulnerable and hard-to-reach families. You will work closely with pupils, parents, pastoral teams, safeguarding leads and external agencies to ensure families receive the right support at the right time.
You will be a visible, trusted and proactive presence within the school community — someone who can build relationships, coordinate support and advocate for families with professionalism and compassion.
Key responsibilities include:
Coordinating targeted support for vulnerable pupils and families
Developing strategies to improve parental engagement and access to services
Working alongside school leaders, safeguarding teams and external agencies
Supporting attendance through early help interventions
Undertaking outreach work and home visits
Acting as a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)
Maintaining accurate safeguarding and case management records
Supporting Early Help assessments and referrals
Providing practical guidance, signposting and emotional support to families
Leading and contributing to multi-agency meetings and reviews
Is passionate about improving life chances for children and families
Can build trust quickly and communicate with empathy and professionalism
Has experience working with vulnerable children, families or safeguarding systems
Understands Early Help, attendance and multi-agency working
Is resilient, solution-focused and highly organised
Can work independently while also contributing strongly to a team
Demonstrates integrity, discretion and strong professional judgement
