Family Support Worker job summary
Ivingswood Academy has a vacancy for a permanent Family Support Worker to work 35 hours per week, 38 weeks per year to provide support to our children and their families. this role is a key position to provide early help support and reduce barriers to learning as well as leading on safeguarding of children and families.
We are looking for a caring, enthusiastic, and flexible person to join our dedicated and happy team. This is a vital role in which you could truly make a difference to our families. support is available from all members of our SLT and also from the other Family Support Workers across our Trust.
Key Responsibilities:
Early Intervention: Provide confidential, non-judgmental advice, guidance, and early help support to parents and carers regarding behaviour, attendance, routines, and family challenges.
Attendance & Punctuality: Work collaboratively with families and our attendance lead to address persistent absence and support positive school engagement.
Multi-Agency Working: Liaise with external agencies (such as Early Help, social care, housing, and health services) and make timely referrals.
Casework & Meetings: Lead or contribute to Team Around the Child (TAC) and Children in Need (CIN) meetings, maintaining accurate and confidential records.
Parental Engagement: Facilitate parent workshops, coffee mornings, and community networking opportunities to build robust partnerships between families and the school.
What We Are Looking For:
Experience: Proven experience working with children, young people, and families in an educational, social care, or community setting.
Safeguarding Knowledge: A solid understanding of safeguarding statutory guidance, child protection procedures, and referral mechanisms.
Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build trusting, professional relationships with diverse families and external professionals.
Resilience & Empathy: A calm, approachable manner with a strong commitment to inclusive practice and improving educational outcomes for children
The successful candidates will:
Demonstrate a strong commitment to children’s happiness, safety and achievement
Be friendly and approachable with a professional manner and a good sense of humour
Effective communicator as job entails dealing with several external agencies
Possess a good standard of spoken and written English
Full induction, plus ongoing support and training will be provided.
