Finance Assistant job summary
Pirton Hill Primary School is seeking to recruit an experienced & efficient Finance Assistant. The post holder will support the Business Manager to ensure that policies, procedures, and compliance, are always adhered to and to provide our students with a safe and positive learning environment.
The role of Finance Assistant is a key part of managing the school’s finances and will be responsible for supporting all of the school’s day to day finance operations. The successful candidate will work alongside the Business Manager to ensure the timely and accurate submission of financial transactions and returns, ensuring probity, best value and compliance with all statutory requirements. You will need to be an excellent communicator, organised and able to work on your own initiative to complete all your tasks in a timely manner. Attention to detail and the ability to manage a full and varied workload is crucial for anyone working in this role.
This is a part time role working 25 hours per week with flexibility as to the working pattern, term time only plus 5 INSET days plus 2 additional days to be worked in the school holidays.
The successful candidate will have recent experience of working in a financial / office environment, preferably within an education setting, and will have excellent communication and IT skills.
Applicants for this public-facing post will need to demonstrate the ability to converse, and provide effective help or advice, fluently in spoken English.
We wish to appoint someone who:
Has a high standard of numeracy skills;
- Ideally has experience using HCSS Access Finance;
- Has knowledge and experience of account procedures;
- Has experience of using online payment and parent communication apps;
- Ideally has experience working in a school office;
- Has excellent interpersonal skills;
- Is able to communicate confidently at all levels with staff, parents, students and suppliers;
- Has the ability to prioritise and work well under pressure;
- Is well organised with excellent IT Skills;
- Has the ability to respond well to unexpected changes on a daily basis.
