We are seeking to appoint a Finance Assistant to join our Central Finance Team at St Cuthbert’s RC Academy Trust. This is an exciting opportunity for an organised, proactive and customer-focused individual to contribute to the delivery of an effective and efficient central finance service across the Trust. Working closely with the Senior Finance Assistant and Finance Management Team, the successful candidate will provide a range of transactional finance support, ensuring that financial processes are completed accurately, efficiently and in accordance with Trust policies, procurement procedures and statutory requirements.

The role will involve working with academies, budget holders, Trust colleagues, suppliers and other external stakeholders, providing a professional and responsive finance service.

Working Hours & Schedule:

We anticipate this role will be offered on a 37 hour per week basis. However, for the right candidate, we are open to discussing flexible working arrangements, including the possibility of term-time only or all-year-round working, subject to the needs of the Trust and the requirements of the role. We are happy to have an informal conversation with prospective candidates about their preferred working pattern.

All year round salary - £26,428 - £27,275 - Annual leave - 23 days - plus bank holidays and 3 concessionary days.

Term Time only actual salary - £22,120 - £22,829 (Plus 2 training days - TBC)

Key Responsibilities:

Process orders, invoices and payments through Sage Intacct.

Support budget holders with the end-to-end purchasing process.

Process payment runs, remittances and supplier reconciliations.

Set up suppliers and maintain accurate financial records.

Process journals, recharges and income receipts.

Administer and reconcile the Trust credit card and petty cash.

Support procurement, subscriptions and licence renewals in line with Trust policy.

Respond to finance queries from internal and external stakeholders.

Provide support to the Senior Finance Assistant and Finance Management Team as required.

What We’re Looking For:

Experience: Essential experience of working in a finance environment, with experience of transactional finance processes such as invoicing, purchasing, payments and reconciliations. Experience within an education or academy trust environment would be advantageous but not essential.

Skills: Excellent organisational skills, strong attention to detail and the ability to manage routine financial processes accurately and to deadlines.

Systems: Confidence using financial and administrative systems, with experience of Sage Intacct desirable.

Communication: A professional and approachable manner, with the ability to deal confidently and courteously with colleagues, budget holders, suppliers and other stakeholders by telephone and email.

Understanding: An awareness of the importance of financial controls, procurement, value for money and compliance with financial procedures.

Mindset: Proactive, reliable and willing to take ownership of tasks, follow up outstanding actions and work collaboratively as part of a central finance team.

Flexibility: Able to provide support to the Senior Finance Assistant, Finance Management Team and key stakeholders as and when required, adapting to the changing priorities of a busy central finance function.

If you are an organised and motivated finance professional who takes pride in delivering accurate, high-quality work and would like to contribute to the financial operations of a growing and ambitious Academy Trust, we want to hear from you.
