Finance Business Partner job summary

Are you looking for a fantastic new opportunity?

We're creating a brand-new Finance Business Partner role to strengthen the connection between Finance and Operations—and we're looking for someone who wants to help shape it.

We believe financial insight should empower our school leaders to make informed decisions that maximise resources and improve outcomes for young people.

About the Role

As Finance Business Partner, you'll become the dedicated finance lead for a portfolio of schools, working closely with Headteachers and operational leaders to understand financial performance, identify risks and opportunities, and provide meaningful commercial insight.

You'll review management accounts, investigate variances, support budgeting and forecasting, and help school leaders understand how financial decisions impact operational performance.

Rather than simply reporting the numbers, you'll help explain them—and work collaboratively to improve them.

What You'll Bring

We're looking for someone who combines strong financial knowledge with excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

You'll have experience in management accounting or finance business partnering, be comfortable analysing financial information and enjoy working collaboratively with operational colleagues.

About You

We are looking for an inspirational leader who combines strategic vision with technical excellence and strong personal integrity.

You will have:

  • Academic Background: Part-qualified or qualified ACCA, CIMA or ACA (desirable)
  • Experience: Experience within a management accounting or finance business partnering environment
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of management accounts and Profit & Loss reporting.
  • Promotion of Values: Commitment to promoting equality, diversity, safeguarding, wellbeing, and British values.
  • Time Management: Effective time management for planning, delivery, and assessment.

Experience within education, academy trusts or the public sector would be advantageous but is not essential.

Why Join Us?

Working as part of a values-led leadership team, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Influence the strategic direction of a growing Trust.
  • Make a lasting difference to the lives of children and young people.
  • Work with committed school and Trust leaders.
  • Lead transformational financial and organisational improvement.
  • Contribute to a Trust rooted in strong values, service and excellence.

If you are an accomplished finance leader with the vision, expertise and commitment to help shape the future of our Trust, we would be delighted to hear from you.

Our recruitment process follows the keeping children safe in education guidance.

About St Clare Catholic Multi Academy Trust

Type
Multi-academy trust

St Clare Catholic Multi Academy Trust was formed in response to the vision of the Bishop of Hallam for all schools in the Diocese to be part of high achieving Catholic MATs with a strong moral purpose to deliver the best possible experiences for all pupils with a particular commitment to those who are most vulnerable.
Our first 12 schools joined the Trust in September 2022 and our 13th school, Holy Trinity Barnsley, joined us in April 2024. We work closely with our wider family of 10 primary schools who we look forward to fully welcoming into the Trust in due course, at which point we will be a Trust of 23 schools across Sheffield, Barnsley, Doncaster and Rotherham.
We are built on a foundation of strong relationships between our schools, rooted in our shared Catholic Christian mission and passion for serving our communities across the Diocese. We have a strong commitment to enhancing the ethos and character of each individual school so that schools continue to be rooted firmly in the communities that they serve. We also have a commitment to the common good, harnessing our collective capacity for the benefit of all the children and young people who attend our schools.
