Finance Officer job summary

First Federation Trust, a Multi Academy Trust of 29 primary schools across Devon and West Dorset is seeking to appoint a part time Finance Officers, to work 22.5 hours per week, 39 weeks per year. The posts will be based at our Axminster Hub Office initially (EX13 5EB). 


This is a pivotal role within First Federation Trust’s Finance team. The Finance Officer will support a group of schools providing financial support, insight and challenge.


The Finance Officer is a member of the Operational Finance Team within the Trust’s central Finance Function.They will work to ensure that the funding available is maximised and controlled and school budgets are correctly set, monitored and managed through pro-active partnering with the schools’ administrators and Heads. 

Ultimately the Finance Officer assists Schools Heads and wider colleagues in delivering the best education possible to our pupils.


You will be a finance professional or administrator with an analytical mindset and ability to understand and interpret financial and other data.


Key responsibilities include:

• Provide regular Management Reports to the school Administrators, Heads and Directors within your remit to 

  assist the schools with key decision making

• Monitor and oversee the agreed budget for each of the schools within your remit

• Identify and inform the Senior Finance Officer and Director of Finance of the causes of significant variance and

   take prompt corrective action

• Assist the Senior Finance Officer and Director of Finance with the preparation of the annual budgets and     

   forecasts for each of the schools within your remit

• Ensure the schools within your remit, and where applicable the Trust, receives value for money.

• Proactively implement the Trust’s policies and procedures

• Oversee the systems and procedures for financial transactions ensuring they are recorded and reported

  accurately
