What skills and experience we're looking for

We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated, enthusiastic and compassionate First Aid & Student Pastoral Support Manager to join our dedicated team at The Bicester School.

This is a rewarding and varied role, combining responsibility for student pastoral support with the provision of first aid and medical care across the school. Working closely with school leaders, pastoral colleagues, parents/carers and external agencies, you will play a key role in supporting students' wellbeing, behaviour, attendance and engagement with learning.

The successful applicant will be able to work effectively in a busy environment, be highly organised and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You will be calm under pressure, able to build positive relationships with young people and committed to helping students overcome barriers to learning.

The role includes:

  • Providing pastoral support and intervention for students.
  • Supporting positive behaviour, attendance and student wellbeing.
  • Acting as a key point of contact for parents and carers regarding pastoral matters.
  • Providing first aid and medical support to students, staff and visitors.
  • Maintaining medical records, healthcare plans and medication procedures.
  • Liaising with colleagues, families and external agencies to support student needs.
  • Providing administrative support relating to student welfare and medical provision.
  • Supporting Reception and front of house functions as required, including end of day reception cover.

Previous experience of working with children and young people is essential. Experience within a school environment and a First Aid at Work qualification would be advantageous, although training can be provided for the right candidate.

What the school offers its staff

  • We are committed to staff wellbeing. As such our Trustees have given all staff two wellbeing days per annum, calendared for school-based staff and bookable for the central team.
  • All staff have access to a comprehensive e-learning portal with various CPD courses including safeguarding and role-specific training.
