Food Teacher (Part-time) job summary

It is an exciting time at Becket Keys Church of England School (Outstanding, 2014). We are working hard to build upon the GCSE successes of our four founding cohorts to ensure our next cohort get their best possible results in 2021, whilst also establishing our new Sixth Form into its fourth year.

As part of our growth plan, we are now seeking an additional teacher (preferably part time) to join our highly successful and hard-working Food team. If you can deliver engaging Food & Nutrition teaching to our students, we want to hear from you! NQTs and talented unqualified teachers (eg qualified chefs) would be welcome to apply – we have an excellent track record of supporting professional chefs into the first years of their teaching career. Alternatively, the part time rôle would particularly suit someone returning from a career break or looking to move from full time to a different sort of position.

Our department is one of the strongest in the school and consistently delivers exceptionally high standards in both progress and attainment terms. Students thoroughly enjoy Food Lessons at this school with good numbers continuing at GCSE and A level. They are taught a highly practical hands-on curriculum with challenging recipes and restaurant standard skills being learned. We are supported by the Russell Education Trust and the successful candidate will have regular access to their adviser and examiner support team.

The appointee will be committed to our high expectations and core values – we welcome applications from teachers irrespective of their faith or lack of it. However, we ask for applicants to appreciate and respect the beliefs of others and have strong moral principles.

Commitment to safeguarding

Our school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful applicant will need a full DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check, which can be applied for once a job offer is made.
